Premi Internacional de Meteorologia i Climatologia Eduard Fontserè 2017
L'Associació Catalana de Meteorologia (ACAM), entitat sense afany de lucre dedicada a la promoció i divulgació del coneixement de la meteorologia a la Mediterrània, dóna a conèixer el treball guanyador del Premi Internacional de Meteorologia Eduard Fontserè 2017.
Aquest guardó té per objectiu promoure la recerca i el coneixement de la meteorologia i la climatologia de la Mediterrània, està dotat amb un premi de 2500 EUR, i s’atorga a aquell article publicat entre els anys 2015 i 2017 en revistes d’investigació de l’àmbit de les ciències atmosfèriques indexades en el SCI (Science Citation Index, Thomson Reuters) o SCOPUS, i que signifiqui una aportació rellevant en el coneixement de la meteorologia i la climatologia de la Mediterrània. Conta amb el patrocini i suport del Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya (SMC) i la Gerència de Serveis de Medi Ambient de l'Àrea de Territori i Sostenibilitat de la Diputació de Barcelona.
Reunit el jurat el passat 31 d’octubre a la seu del Servei Meteorològic de Catalunya, va coincidir amb l’elevat nivell dels treballs presentats, i va decidir per unanimitat concedir el Premi Internacional de Meteorologia Eduard Fontserè 2017 al treball:
“SPREAD: a high-resolution daily gridded precipitation dataset for Spain – an extreme events frequency and intensity overview” realitzat per Roberto Serrano-Notivoli, Santiago Beguería, Miguel Ángel Saz, Luis Alberto Longares, i Martín de Luis, i publicat a la revista Earth System Science Data ( https://doi.org/10.5194/essd-9-721-2017).
El jurat ha considerat que aquest treball presenta aportacions rellevants per al coneixement de la meteorologia i la climatologia de la Mediterrània. Els autors presenten la primera base de dades de precipitació diària d’altíssima resolució espacial i temporal per a Espanya des del 1950 fins el 2014, utilitzant un mètode que pot ser de referència per a desenvolupar treballs similars en d’altres regions, el que permetrà conèixer millor la precipitació diària a la Mediterrània.
Aquest treball serà presentat, juntament amb altres ponències, a les XXIII Jornades de Meteorologia Eduard Fontserè que organitza l'ACAM els propers dies 24, 25 i 26 de novembre a Barcelona. En l'acte de cloenda de les quals es farà el lliurament de premis (més informació a http://www.acam.cat).
International Award on meteorology and climatology Eduard Fontserè 2017
The Catalan Meteorological Society (ACAM), which promotes and disseminates the knowledge of meteorology and climatology in the Mediterranean basin, would like to announce the winner of the International Award on Meteorology and Climatology Eduard Fontserè 2017, sponsored by Weather Catalan Service (METEOCAT) and the Environmental Service of the Sustainability Area of Diputació de Barcelona.
The goal of this award is to promote significant research and knowledge about Mediterranean meteorology and climatology. It is endowed with 2500 EUR for those paper published in one of the journals included into the “Atmospheric Sciences” indexed as SCI (Science Citation Index, Thomson Reuters) or SCOPUS, between 2015 and 2017. The work should propose new and relevant investigations about meteorology or climatology in the Mediterranean basin.
The committee of the award highlights the high quality of all the papers presented. At the meeting held last 31st October, the court decided unanimously to award the paper “SPREAD: a high-resolution daily gridded precipitation dataset for Spain – an extreme events frequency and intensity overview” by Roberto Serrano-Notivoli, Santiago Beguería, Miguel Ángel Saz, Luis Alberto Longares, and Martín de Luis, published in the journal Earth System Science Data ( https://doi.org/10.5194/essd-9-721-2017)
The committee considers that this paper presents relevant contributions to the knowledge of the Mediterranean meteorology and climatology. The authors show the first daily database of precipitation with a very high spatial and temporal resolution over Spain since 1950. The methodology used, which could be considered as a reference, could be applied to developing similar jobs along the Mediterranean basin. This method and the database will allow improving the knowledge of the daily precipitation over the Mediterranean basin.
The authors will present the awarded work during the XXIII Symposium of Meteorology Eduard Fontserè, on 26th November 2017 in Barcelona.
